As a joint committee effort, it's bloody difficult to avoid treading on -someone's- toes, but I've read the available committee minutes for both clubs, and asked around a few people, so please bear with me. The official Quiz Night Subcommittee is Ewan and Frenchie, so you can assume all of this is hearsay unless they say otherwise. Venue: the Tavern has been booked, but has not yet been paid for. Questions: currently not written. I volunteer to produce one round of (audio-based) questions, but Ewan (I think) is currently Question Master. Tickets: $5/person prepaid, $10/person on the door, and tables of 8. Any direct negatives? It would be cool to start selling tickets ASAP. Does anyone know who did the ticket design last year? I think Davyd had some designs but I'm not sure what got used in the end - Katie, you did the printing, right? Davyd has done a preliminary poster - http://davyd.ucc.asn.au/images/quiz-night-poster.png Once ticket prices are confirmed, I'll organise for this to go in the Silver Guilder, in G-NEWS and around the Guild. We also really, really need some decent prizes this year. If you're going to approach someone for prizes, please let everyone on the UCC and UniSFA committees know so that no-one asks twice. >From my experience with WAMSS publications, I've discovered that writing letters and even phone calls nets a low response rate, but if you pull on some reasonably neat clothes and go to places in-person with a letter in hand, you'll get much better results. Last year, we managed to scam an overnight stay for two out of the Hilton, which was raffled off to great success, so if we can get something like this again that would be excellent. To assist in communication, I'd like to remind you all that unisfa-ucc at ucc.gu.uwa.edu.au goes to both committees, but messages will be semi-publically archived for all time on the UCC committee mailing list pages. I'm definitely thinking that we'll do it up as a powerpoint presentation again. What we REALLY need is ideas for the interround-interclub competition. We'll do the standard things such as Sit down if, heads and tails and whatever else is usually run. But if you've got a good idea for something, email us (off list) with the idea and we'll discuss it further with you there. > Tickets: $5/person prepaid, $10/person on the door, and tables of 8. > Any direct negatives? I wanted to get them sold at the Easter Picnic and the Lan which are Sunday and Friday respectively. $5 and $10 sounds good. We were actually thinking not to bother with charging a different amount on the door, but this way works out quite nicely. There should be someone in at least one of the rooms at all times able to sell you a ticket or five. If you don't know where the clubrooms are, have a look at either of these websites and it should give you all the details. UniSFA is just down the corridoor past UCC. http://www.unisfa.gu.uwa.edu.au/about/index.php3#woozeling http://www.ucc.asn.au/aboutucc/contact.ucc#location -Ewan MacLeod UniSFA President 2007 On 4/30/07, houj01 at student.uwa.edu.au wrote: > Hi, > > I was wondering if it was possible to buy some tickets to the quiz night > > I have 5 people atm, there might be a couple more > > is there somewhere i should go? or someone i should contact? > > Jack Hou > m: 0406589838 > From blkgrphn at gmail.com Mon Apr 30 18:30:27 2007 From: blkgrphn at gmail.com (Emma Grogan) Date: Mon, 30 Apr 2007 18:30:27 +0800 Subject: [committee] Quiz night sponsorship letters In-Reply-To: References: <2058c7110704202026j2bdc60afi98fe26e107796a13@mail.gmail.com> Message-ID: <787f015b0704300330s6695efabv341e5e8ce2d79212@mail.gmail.com> I've alrea.dy said this but I'll email it anyway.
