Dropbear - Cygwin - Performance

I wonder if this could be due to some Cygwin quirk?  I know for a fact
that fork() is quite an expensive operation in Cygwin (no
copy-on-write), and I hear its threadding support is somewhat primitive.

Maybe that's part of the problem faced?
