Message-ID: Hi all, I am pleased to announce that UCC::ProgComp 2010 is now open. Well, sort of --- at the moment only the Python development kit is ready, but C will follow in the next few days and Java and MATLAB shortly after. You can get it from . You have most of the rest of semester to develop your agent. While you're developing, we'll be coding up an online submission scheme and rolling scoreboard so you can follow the progress of your agent. We'll let you know when these things become ready by email. If you find a bug, or have questions not answered on the website, please let me know at progcomp-orgainser at ucc.asn.au Good luck, and I hope you have a fun time developing. If you were intending to develop in C, head there to find out how to download or upgrade. If you only intend to develop in Python, you may disregard this update. === Rule Update === Something that I didn't make clear earlier is the difference between the short and long variants of the competition. Each arena is run in both 'short' and 'long' mode. The supervisor you download is configured by default for short mode: an agent can live for no more than 100 fights, and there can be no more than 100 rounds. In long mode, there can be up to 1000 rounds. What I didn't clarify earlier is that your agent will be able to survive for up to 1000 fights (10 times short mode). If you have any other questions, or if something else is unclear, please email me. Thanks again, and enjoy developing in C! Best regards, Daniel Axtens UCC::ProgComp 2010 Organiser
