From adrian at ucs.uwa.edu.au Mon Oct 27 11:14:20 2003 From: adrian at ucs.uwa.edu.au (Adrian Chadd) Date: Wed Oct 27 01:28:08 2004 Subject: [tech] proposed routing changes Message-ID: <20031027031420.GF28359@cyllene.uwa.edu.au> hi guys, A couple of things. I'd like to move your routing interface for the guild vlan off villa and onto gringo, the switch you're plugged into. This'll involve: * shutting down vlan13 on villa, which currently is 130.95.100.0/24 * bringing up vlan13 on gringo, which should automagically have the routing work * bring up the temporary UCC hacks: - 192.168.13.1/24 on vlan13 - route 130.95.13.0/24, 172.25.42.0/24 and 203.24.97.224/27 to 192.168.13.2 This is to (a) make things cleaner and (b) allow UCC to eventually just be a VLAN rather than the current aliased setup. Your connectivity will drop for a couple of minutes whilst I make the change. If it messes up, I'll just revert it. Total downtime, (assuming something subtle breaks and I have to fix it) will be 10 or so minutes. When would be a good time to do this? Thanks! Yay for vlanning. I'll have to get organised and do proper VLAN config for the guild after that point (which I think will involve a considerably longer outage). I don't think the UCC cares when it happens, but thanks for the warning, I expect you'll tell us a final time when you can do it. However, as it's no longer routable elsewhere I think we should drop use of it completely. So ; 192.168.13.1 will be gringo's interface on vlan13? 192.168.13.2 will be cthulhu's interface on vlan13? Well, it works within the clubroom, but 130.95.13.192/26 addresses would be preferable. (because 172.26.42.0/24 doesn't have the benefit of WAIX anyway) > > So ; > > 192.168.13.1 will be gringo's interface on vlan13? [Adrian: yup.] > > 192.168.13.2 will be cthulhu's interface on vlan13? Does that mean we want Adrian to hold off the routing change until camwhore gets a longer cat5 cable to plug into the Guild network? or is 130.95.13.62 sufficient?
