The slot was empty earlier on today (as was slot 1) and the light didn't come on for slot 5, but did for slot 1. Apologies if this has already been reported and I missed it. As I recall, these bulbs burn out fairly frequently... I remember somebody suggesting a bug-tracking system for the UCC -- does one exist yet? Perhaps that would be a better venue to raise issues like this in future. -- Scott Young (splintax/sjy) 2008 UCC Treasurer From nick at ucc.gu.uwa.edu.au Wed May 7 18:07:38 2008 From: nick at ucc.gu.uwa.edu.au (Nick Bannon) Date: Wed, 7 May 2008 18:07:38 +0800 Subject: [tech] Slot 5 'empty' light out on drinks machine In-Reply-To: <1ae2edda0805062201r356f369tea1b68ba9b833a6e@mail.gmail.com> References: <1ae2edda0805062201r356f369tea1b68ba9b833a6e@mail.gmail.com> Message-ID: <20080507100738.GA30938@ucc.gu.uwa.edu.au> On Wed, May 07, 2008 at 01:01:29PM +0800, Scott Young wrote: > Hi all, > > Just letting everybody know that the 'empty' light on slot 5 appears > to be dead. There are spares in the metal pocket inside the machine. They use a current limiting resistor - maybe replace it with a resistor that's twice as big and see if the light is still bright enough. > I remember somebody suggesting a bug-tracking system for the UCC -- > does one exist yet? Issue tracking system - use your UCC login to file a ticket: https://secure.ucc.asn.au/glpi/ Nobody uses this - yet! You could be first! Wiki abuse - note these pages are both fairly out of date: http://wiki.ucc.asn.au/AdminProjects http://wiki.ucc.asn.au/StuffToFix There is a special page for fixing things on the website: http://wiki.ucc.asn.au/Website And of course, the thread where it was suggested that tech@ is an appropriate forum for these queries... http://lists.ucc.gu.uwa.edu.au/pipermail/tech/2007-November/003238.html David Adam UCC Wheel Member zanchey at ucc.gu.uwa.edu.au From maset at ucc.asn.au Wed May 7 13:06:22 2008 From: maset at ucc.asn.au (Anil Sharma ) Date: Wed, 7 May 2008 13:06:22 +0800 (WST) Subject: [tech] Slot 5 'empty' light out on drinks machine In-Reply-To: <1ae2edda0805062201r356f369tea1b68ba9b833a6e@mail.gmail.com> References: <1ae2edda0805062201r356f369tea1b68ba9b833a6e@mail.gmail.com> Message-ID: Bug tracking feature - it's normally the most recent wheel member. The quick hack job I did back in 2001(?) was never intended to last this long. As an aside, I have a load of 110V to 5V stepdown transformers used for projects where I used to work - but never implemented. I need to unsolder them from the boards they are attached to but otherwise they should be as new. If someone wants to go down this route of designing a board, I'll raise the priority of having them sent to WA. Current priority is some time in the future. Of course, for a more rapid service, you could come and get them from me! :) Simon -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Well, an engineer is not concerned with the truth; that is left to philosophers and theologians: the prime concern of an engineer is the utility of the final product."
