Today I went and got 2x8 port Gb unmanaged switches, they replace the one on the shelf near the tool cupboard and the one in the machine room. The only problem now is that we have a bazillion 100mb switches (some managed, others not). Maybe someone with more time than me could set up one that has iOS and another running CatOS for members to tinker with? On the tools front, the hot air rework station has arrived and I'm itching for a chance to use it (someone break something!)(not the door relay plz). We also have a whole heap of prototyping stuff on order but I'll shout when they arrive. Finally, I'm now looking for some good, cheap, extendable parts drawers for all the components, as well as a bigger tool box. Let us know if you can recommend anything, or if there's something else the club should get. Can we get a volunteer to price+get_approved+purchase a new one please? New one needs to be ~500W, have 2x6pin pcie connectors, and have right-angle sata power connectors (look at the case for what I'm talking about). Specs are: 2 x 300MHz CPUs 1GB of RAM 4 x 9GB SCSI disks There is no operating system installed. Note, one fan no longer works. The server is in Perth (St George's Tce) and if you want it then you will need to arrange pick up. If you are interested please send me an email.
