With the help of Rowan, Rufus and Zanchey, I've updated the Fresher's
Guide. The latest version is available in ODT format here:

Feel free to make suggestions for any changes here, or to edit the
document yourself and let us know.

We've read through the whole guide, so as soon as we have some new
cover art and a 'welcome' spiel from Luke (he's working on it right
now), we can send it off to the printers. Of course, further changes
and additions are welcome, but there's nothing else critical that
/has/ to change.
