FREE NETWORKING LUNCH WITH AUSTRALIA'S LEADING EMPLOYERS

Dear Student Society

I am writing to invite your Society to send a representative to the Perth
SocMeet on Thursday 5 March 2009.

What is SocMeet?

"SocMeet" is a networking meeting which is attended by representatives of
Australia's leading employers and representatives of faculty student
societies from Western Australian Universities.

Who Should Attend

We would like to invite your Society to send a suitable representative(s) to
SocMeet on Thursday 5 March. To keep numbers to a manageable level we are
suggesting that each Society sends up to three representatives. Who you send
is entirely up to you - it may be your President, your Sponsorships
Secretary, your Employer Liaison Manager etc.

Who else is being invited?

We have extended an open invitation to all employers in the Perth market to
attend SocMeet. As SocMeet coincides with The Big Meet careers fair (see
Fine Print section below) we anticipate that over 75 different employers
will be present on the day.

We have invited representatives of faculty student societies from WA's five
universities: Curtin, ECU, Murdoch, Notre Dame and UWA. So there is the
prospect that we will have up to five similar societies in attendance (e.g.
all five Commerce Societies)

THE FINE PRINT

Here are some more details:

What is the Purpose of SocMeet?

The purpose of SocMeet is to build stronger links between employers and
student societies.

Employers are interested in raising their profile on campus and in
attracting graduates into their workforce. They are particularly interested
in developing strong ties with student societies which represent specific
university faculties.

Some of the issues of importance to student societies are raising funds and
providing their members with access to future employment opportunities.

Our aim is to bring together employers and student societies at the same
event to understand how both groups may be able to work together for
mutually beneficial outcomes.

We recognise that some student societies already have ties with particular
employers or industry associations. These existing relationships will
continue - SocMeet is an opportunity for everyone to meet everyone else.

SocMeet is being organised by The Australian Association of Graduate
Employers (AAGE).

The Australian Association of Graduate Employers

The Australian Association of Graduate Employers (AAGE) is the peak industry
body representing employers that recruit and develop Australian graduates.
The AAGE is similar to a student society in that we are a not-for-profit
association funded entirely by our membership. In the case of the AAGE, our
members are all employers who share a common interest in attracting,
recruiting and developing graduates.

The AAGE has over 240 member organisations including a range of large,
medium and small employers from both the public and private sector. Our
members are drawn from a range of industries including engineering, mining,
professional services, law, banking, IT, government to name just a few. Our
members regularly recruit graduates from all Australian universities. A full
list of our current members is attached for your information.

You can find out more information about the AAGE via our website
<http://www.aage.com.au> www.aage.com.au

The Big Meet

The Big Meet is a careers fair specifically targeted at undergraduates and
recent graduates from all the universities in Western Australia. The Big
Meet will be taking place from 1.00pm to 5.00pm on Thursday 5 March at the
Perth Convention Exhibition Centre (ie. the same date and venue as SocMeet).
Over 75 organisations will be exhibiting at The Big Meet. These
organisations are offering a range of opportunities including graduate
employment, vacation work, international internships, voluntary work,
postgraduate education and travel. Attendance is free of charge. You can
find out more information via the event website:
