Judging by their profits that's a good way to go :)

Actually, after eight years in Silicon Valley it's become pretty clear
to me that big companies are almost entirely unable to create new
products. They're often good at polishing startups' products and
marketing to a mass market, but new products from inside large
companies are the exception not the rule. When big companies do manage
to bring create new products it's usually because they convince some
engineers who were about to quit to work at a startup to stay, act
like a startup, work in a different office and have the freedom to
create something new.
