[UCCBball] First Game Results, Future Fixtures

Well, we lost our first game. Oh well. It was fun all the same

Next 4 Upcomming games are:

Week 2 - 20 Aug - 9.30, Crt 4, vs The Dog Cuts
Week 3 - 27 Aug - 7.30, Crt 8, vs The 6th Man
Week 4 -  3 Sep - 9.30, Crt 4, vs Spots
Week 5 - 10 Sep - 8.30, Crt 6, vs Carpe Vinum

Notes on stuff.

Door Tickets - Please write your name on the ticket before you put it in
the envelope.

Forfeits - Forfeits cost $40. If we give 24 hours notice, there is no
fine, so, if you can't make it. -PLEASE- let me know. Although given the
size of the team, forfeits are unlikely, still please let me know if you
can't make it for any reason.

Another note on the size of the team. As we saw tonight, having too
large a team poses some difficulties in substitutions. I recommend we
set up a roster of 8 players each week, the other 3 come along and
spectate (or not if you want a night off). This solves two problems; it
reduces the cost for everyone (weeks that you don't have to pay $6 for
the game) and allows better use of subs, giving people more court time
for their $6.

Singlets - We're going to get Jerseys (quite probably from aussie gold,
tho I'll speak to basketball WA and see who they recommend for
prices/quality etc). Hopefully UCC will be able to subsidise some amount
of the jersey cost. If not, they will cost $20 each, and you can get
your name/nickname on it for $1.10 a letter. Perhaps as an idea, UCC
buys some jerseys (for people that don't want their names on them) and
these people pay $10 (as rent for the singlet) and UCC pays the other
$10. People that want to own their own jersey and have their name on it
pay the full price. This is just an idea. I know I'm happy to fork out
$25 for a jersey with my name on it, but some people might not be, so
this is a valid alternative. (Although I wouldn't mind some subsidy from
UCC either :P)

UCC Shirts - If you've bought an UCC shirt for the sole purpose of
basketball, and don't want it any more (since we're getting jerseys) I
don't think there will be a horrible outcry if you return it in the
state you bought it. :P

And finally, Numbering

So far these people have claimed these numbers.

People still to get numbers: Grubby, Kieron, Rob Slater (or Rod, sorry,
I never found out which, someone please let me know) and Alwyn.

Take your pick, numbers going fast. Email me and let me know.

As for the roster for next game, I'll draw something up. Possibly 4
"divisions" per se, 3 people in each division, and the player missing
each week just rotates, so we don't have a week with all the top players
out.

As a quick heads up, how does this sound for divisions:

As a vague offering,

Then we shuffle the order of the divisions so different sets of people
sit out.

I think this is a decent idea, any comments on it?

Unless there's any major objections to this format for the moment, shall
we run with it?
