Indeed, thanks Alwyn. Adding to what Tommo said, having now gone through
the first half (offence in the second half is a bit tricky to analyse due
to camera angles), out of 13 normal half-court offensive setups, we had:
- 5 full reversals
- a further 5 offences that broke from the usual, but involved good
options
- leaving only 3 that were at least partially questionable
I'd say that's pretty good. I think the wheels start to come a bit loose
late in the first half. Not sure if it's tiredness starting to creep in,
or focus starting to slip.
The other thing of note is that we didn't get as much inside action as I'd
like, largely because their defensive scheme was to sink one of the guards
onto Tommo at high post, and often have him follow Tommo all the way down
and just leave our guards open. Not quite a box and 1, but close.
It meant that when we did get the ball to the baseline, there weren't many
opportunities to pass to a diving high post. We'll have to see if we face
that defence a lot, I guess. I certainly haven't noticed it against high
posts who aren't Tommo. :P
