Here's a couple of options.
We could also do top or side pick and rolls? I'd think top for Andrew and
left side of the court for Tommo probably make the most sense. (right hand
drives for guards passing to either Tommos left hand, or Andrew rolling
down the middle)

So we run a 4-out, 1-in high post offense. We have the post player, 2
wings, and one name for the 2 guys at the top is the "slot". Seems to me
that the only pass we make that doesn't result in some motion is a
slot-to-slot pass.

If others agree, then its probably something to practice (see diagram
below, even though it shows 5 in the wrong position)

*Slot to Slot Pass*
Proposed drill

Start: Have a high post (5) at the free throw line and players 2&4 in the
positions shown below, with a defender (X) between 5 and the basket.
1) 4 passes to 2, and cuts. 5 should hang on the weak side (if it were
man-to-man they would screen for 4, and it opens up more options, including
for them)
2) the defender chooses to guard 4 or 5
3) 2 decides whether to pass to 4 or 5, who then attempts a shot, X
rebounds.
4) players rotate positions

If you want to make it harder you add an extra defender who starts out
guarding 2, and then the defenders talk to decide who they are going to
leave open, if they leave 2 open then 2 drives until a pass or shot.

The diagram above is taken from
https://www.basketballforcoaches.com/4-out-1-in-offense/ ....

>From the same page we could also take a look at the Slot to Wing dribble at
back cut for situations where the wing pass is getting taken away... again
our 5 is normally at the free throw line, but it still works to at least
get us and the defense moving, and is better than just passing back and
forth at the top.

*Slot to Wing Dribble At Back Cut*

<https://www.basketballforcoaches.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/dribble-at-back-cut.jpeg>

*1. *4 dribbles towards 2 on the wing.

*2. *Noticing this, 2 immediately back cuts.

*3. *If the pass is open, 4 will pass to 2. If not, 4 continues dribbling
to the wing position.

*4. *Since 2 doesn’t receive the basketball, they fill out to the weak side
wing.

*5. *3 and 1 also fill towards the basketball.

We can practice this with 3 people, 2 guards and a defender... and can
scale it up by adding the high post, with or without and extra defender to
make things a bit more game like, or practice passing to high post after
catching the ball on the cut etc.

*Alternate Zone Offense*

Getting more adventurous is if we want to try running a play designed to be
good against the zone we play against most games.... but unless we get most
players to a training it will probably result in too much chaos...

This isn't that much different from what we already run. It just has the
guard continuing through to the strong corner. The post then cuts into the
strong-side low post, and the weak-side wing cuts into high post. We used
to do this reasonably organically on a Wednesday night when guys like Alwyn
or myself would opportunistically cut across from the weak side into high
post.... then we would all take turns complaining about our spacing :P

(For a more slightly more detailed and much clearer explanation take a look
at
https://functionalbasketballcoaching.com/zone-offense-4-1-weak-side-flash/)

   - 2 passes to 4 and cuts to the short corner, if that's not on, bails
out to the strong-side corner.... whilst that is happening 3 goes to the
weak-side post (rebounding and next cut), 1 fills across to be a bail out
   passing option for 4.
   - After the cut has gone by, 5 steps out a bit wider than usual for more
of a mid-post (if the forward defender is shadowing 2, this is a layup

   - Once 2 has cleared out, now 5 moves down to the low post, (as an aside
I think this is a better way for us to get our post to low-post in general)
   - 3 now makes their cut, initially under the basket, then up to high post
      - If 2 gets the ball they should shoot, or immediately pass to 5 (3
cuts back to weak-side low post for rebounding)
      - If 3 or 5 gets the ball, the other cuts to the weak-side low post
      (pass or improved rebounding)
   - 4 should now have the option to pass to 2, 3 or 5, if they are all
defended they should probably shoot, if they are defended as wekk... we
aren't playing against a D-Grade zone any more, but they should bail out
back to 1 (see below on how they propose everyone gets back into position)
      - Note that 4 is going to be making a bunch of pass or shot fakes,
but should not quickly take the "easy" option of either 1 or 2 in the
corner, we would need to give the posts and cuts time to develop.
      - The priority is trying to get the ball in the paint for a
short-range shot. (2 on the initial cut, 5 at the elbow or the
low-post, or
3 at the elbow... then their own shot or drive, then 2 in the
corner, only
finally after everything else is exhausted do you resort to 1.)

I actually disagree with 2 having to fill for 1 as 1 dribbles across the
top.... they've already made a cut, 4 should stop being lazy and follow
their pass. Either way the offense is now ready to be run on the other side
of the floor.
