<div dir="ltr">Thanks very much for recording this Alwyn. Would be great to catch some more offense next time but was really handy seeing our defense in action.<div><br></div><div>There were two key things I noticed about myself:</div><div>1. I look very stiff and I'm often trailing the play. I should take more subs and do more mid-game stretches, even if I'm feeling decent. Obviously I'm dropping off more than I realise.</div><div>2. I need to be careful about dropping too low on baseline plays where the forward *hasn't* been beaten - it didn't result in any issues but I can see my positioning isn't ideal. I'll try to work on this.</div><div><br></div><div>I agree the box outs are a problem. Looks to me there are three main cases, so we might as well take a closer look. They actually show three different examples of things going amiss.</div><div><br></div><div>#1 Long vid 10:45 - tuning out - Chris and Accy both switch off and the tall guy comes down the middle unimpeded for an easy put back<br></div><div>#2 Long vid 14:55 - poor initial positioning - their guy gets a clear path to run all the way down to the hoop without disruption and then plants himself in front of Dave</div><div>#3 Short vid 1:40 - establish position but don't look for anyone - me and Alwyn both turn and position ourselves for the board but completely fail to box out the guy running in between us (and he comes from mid-range, so that's our bad, not the guards)<br></div><div><br></div><div>I think we do all of these from time to time, but #3 is probably the thing that most of us are guilty of, the most regularly. We generally play for boards but still have poor awareness of our surroundings.</div><br class="gmail-Apple-interchange-newline"><div>One last thing. Accy, the play at 1:28 (long vid) is a good example of what I talk to you about sometimes, where you stay stationary and pass down through defenders from the high post. I think it's a better option on plays like this, where you're high and there's a low option, to take a dribble or two (you've got a nice lane across the keyway to the right, your strong side), draw the defenders and then look for either the layup or a dump off. Both are higher percentage options than the longer high-low pass.</div><div><br></div><div>I am 100% happy to take constructive criticism if anyone has any. Chris, I've been thinking of what you said about trying to be more straight up when I'm shooting in the key - definitely going to work on that.</div><div><br></div><div>Long email, but hopefully worth writing... thanks all.</div><div><br></div><div>Cheers,</div><div>Tom</div></div><div id="DAB4FAD8-2DD7-40BB-A1B8-4E2AA1F9FDF2"><br>

I think 1080 might help seeing the 'other side' of the court. sometime <br>
it's hard to see what's going on on the non-camera side of the court.<br>

I noticed that a bit. And also how we collapse quite a bit and just wind <br>
up under the bucket.. Something else I need to look at.<br>
