Thank you for participating in Lakesides' Saturday Summer Basketball Competition. With the hot weather approaching this weekend it is a good time to refresh everyone on Lakesides hot weather guidelines. Lakeside has adopted Basketball Western Australias hot
weather guidelines. I have attached the full document to this email for you to read if you wish but I have put the important information below.</div>

<p style="font-family:New;font-size:medium;"><i><span style="font-family:New;font-size:medium;color:rgb(0, 0, 0);">6. When the on-court temperature reaches 30 degrees Celsius, competition managers should consider implementing,
and where the on-court temperature reaches 35 degrees Celsius, must implement the following mitigation strategies:</span><br>
<span style="font-family:New;font-size:medium;color:rgb(0, 0, 0);"> 6.1 Referees to call a time-out at the halfway point of each period, if one has not already been called;</span><br>
<span style="font-family:New;font-size:medium;color:rgb(0, 0, 0);"> 6.2 Half time breaks to be extended by a minute;</span><br>
<span style="font-family:New;font-size:medium;color:rgb(0, 0, 0);"> 6.3 Water stations and ice are to be made available;</span><br>
<span style="font-family:New;font-size:medium;color:rgb(0, 0, 0);"> 6.4 Competition managers may reduce game times if deemed necessary;</span><br>
<span style="font-family:New;font-size:medium;color:rgb(0, 0, 0);"> 6.5 Air-conditioning to be turned on in venues that have this capability;</span><br>
<span style="font-family:New;font-size:medium;color:rgb(0, 0, 0);"> 6.6 Competition managers to monitor internal temperature gauges.</span><br>

<span style="font-family:New;font-size:medium;color:rgb(0, 0, 0);"> 7.1.1 If a game is abandoned before it commences or before or at half time, it is counted as a draw;</span><br>
<span style="font-family:New;font-size:medium;color:rgb(0, 0, 0);"> 7.1.2 If a game is abandoned after half time, the game score stands as a final result.</span></i><br>

We have thermometers positioned in both Stadiums and these are monitored to ensure that the correct measures are put in place when the above temperatures are reached.</div>

Games will be abandoned when the inside court temperature reaches 40 degrees. If games are underway the above guidelines will determine the result. We will do our best to contact teams that have not started yet to let them know that the game has been cancelled.
Please let your teams know that all contact will be done through the team reps and we will contact them directly. If you would like to confirm if a game going ahead please can only the team reps contact Lakeside and then pass the information onto the teams.</div>
