The only cost to UCC was the paper that was used. At a cost of between
$5 and $8 per ream (500 pages) we were making a slight profit on every
page - the current rate is 2c per page, not 1c.
UCC obtained more than enough LaserWriters to continue replacing the
toner cartridges for free.
Wear and tear is negligible on printers that arrive at UCC already
having developed the signature paper ejection problem of the engine.

UCC doesn't *need* donations in the first place - the habit is to ask
for half in donations whether or not we have enough money in the kitty
to purchase outright.

The point of donations is to have the people that will use the new
facilities bear more of the initial outlay. For a printer which
requires you to pay for its upkeep anyway, it may be a little unfair,
but it makes perfect sense for other purchases. Personally, I agree
that in this case UCC should just buy it outright, but we did only ask
for one-quarter in donations than one-half.
