Ladies and Gentlemen of the Committee -
On behalf of the Allied Health organisers, members of the WA Medical
Students Society Committee, and the wider health student community, I'd
like to present the following proposal for consideration.
All right, enough wank, if you'll excuse the vulgarity.
Basically, Allied Health (more on what it is later) wants to run the SMS
Screen (or flirtscreen) at their event on Thursday 24th March, 2005, at
The Leederville Hotel, from 7pm-1am.
Currently, they're offering $150 + 2 complimentary VIP tickets to the
event (and VIP tickets are, believe me, worth it) in exchange for:
- pre-event recon
- setup at 6pm onward
- someone to be available to fix things if they die
- pack up at the end of the night
This year is a bit different to previous events - The Leederville provides
all the AV gear, so we may need to be flexible and liase with various
personnel @ the venue.
What we need to do, as a committee, is decide:
- if we want the money badly enough to do this (I suggest we do)
- who's going to run it (I would like to volunteer, and we probably need
Davyd, Bernard or James who know the system)
By the way, at WAMSS Committee, our Public Affairs officer had the biggest
grin on his face when the SMS screen was confirmed. People really thought
it was cool, and it does a lot for the reputation of UCC geeks among
people who will probably have their hands inside you at some stage in the
next sixty years.
And for those of you who don't know: Allied Health is the biggest social
event on the calendar for anyone in health-related studies. 2500 people
from Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Physio, Health Science, and a whole
heap of other courses get together for an absolutely wild night. It's
usually held at Metro's, but they've got a small problem with licensing
this year >:-)
Davyd/Bernard/James, what do we need gear-wise? A laptop, various
connectors, the software, a phone + connection cable?
Cheers,
David Adam
