Dear Committee,
Introducing APESMA
As you may be aware, the Association of Professional Engineers, Scientists
and Managers, Australia, is the recognised representative of professional
employees. The Association exists to maximise member salaries and
employment conditions. Association members are employees, self-employed and
student Professional Engineers, Scientists, Architects, Pharmacists,
Information Technology Professionals, Managers and Veterinarians.
APESMA offers free affiliate membership to students in their final two years
of study, and offers a bounty to student clubs if they assist in recruiting
new student members. For each final year and penultimate student that your
club recruits, your club will receive $2.00.
APESMA can assist student members in variety of ways. Some of these are
listed below:
National Employment Service-
APESMA's employment agency, ETM Placements, is one of the largest
recruitment agencies for technology-based professionals in Australia. ETM
can provide students with information on job applications, resumes,
interview skills and Australian and overseas job opportunities.
Work Experience-
Where students seek work experience in their chosen field, APESMA provides
assistance with information on salaries and conditions of employment.
Graduate Salaries & Conditions-
APESMA negotiates to establish and update award minimums to protect graduate
salaries and conditions in the professions it represents. APESMA also
conducts regular employment and salary surveys to keep students up to date
with market salaries for their profession.
Individual Assistance-
Student members of APESMA can contact us for individual advice and
assistance on employment and career related issues. This includes a resume
review service, free of charge. We are committed to providing you with this
personal assistance.
Publications-
Student members automatically receive our bi-monthly electronic magazine,
Student Update, containing relevant articles on where the jobs are, what
employers are looking for and work experience and career advice from recent
graduates.
I am able to put together an information pack for you, including an APESMA
student membership poster for display in your clubroom, as well as a copy of
APESMAs Professional Careers Guide, and as many student membership
application forms as you would need if your club is interested in our offer.
If you have any queries regarding the Association, you can either visit the
APESMA Websites at www.apesma.asn.au,

on (08) 9321 8187 or email infowa at apesma.asn.au.
Kind regards,
Rebecca.
