Hello UWA student club,
My name is Michael Chin and I'm organizing a financial seminar to increase
the financial literacy of people within the community. Being an integral
part of the student community at university, I would like you to help me
promote this event to all of UWA's students through word of mouth, flyers or
email. The event will be held at the SSLT @ UWA on Saturday July the 12th,
2008 from 12-2pm. As the seminar will talk about general financial advice
such as investments, cashflow, superannuation, taxation and insurance
(things not taught at school or at university), I feel that it is important
that all university students get this education to enable them to really
empower themselves to make the right decisions regarding their financial
future as they will be entering the full time workforce very soon. As
someone who is on the road to financial freedom myself (I am a 29 year old
mechanical engineer (UWA educated) turned options trader that now works 8-10
hours a week and makes 10 times my engineering salary), I know how important
it is to get the proper financial education because of what is available to
me now (time and money).
The event is also a fundraising event for the Cancer Council of Western
Australia so all proceeds from ticket sales and sponsorship will be going
towards a very worthwhile charity. So with all of this said, are you and
your club in a position to help? I have provided specific reasons as to why
people should attend below and also attached a recommendation letter from
the Cancer Council of W.A. Please let me know if you can help by sending out
the flyer attached including the reasons why people should attend. In my
opinion it would be fantastic to just get the word out there and let people
decide if they really want to take action of their financial affairs. I also
think it is a win win situation in that young people get the education that
they really need whilst cancer patients, their families and loved ones also
get something to help them out!!!
Please feel free to contact myself if you have any other suggestions as I
would be happy to hear it.
best regards,
Michael Chin

Reasons why you should attend the "Make a Difference" seminar:
1. To help you understand where are you financially. This is vitally
important if you have not yet taken the time to review your financial well
being or have not yet had the opportunity to plan for your future financial
goals and needs. The sooner this is done the better off you will be in the
long run.
2. To create a framework for understanding financial matters specifically
in the areas of cash flow, investments, superannuation, insurance and
taxation. This will enable people to clarify issues when making financial
decisions so that financial goals and objectives are achieved. This is a
crucial step for people who want to set upon the path to financial freedom
and independence.
3. To increase your financial literacy within the community so that you
may not only increase your quality of life but also contribute to the people
that you love and care about in your lives through the sharing of this
information.
4. To gain access to professional financial advice at the fraction of the
cost for a normal consultation. The information delivered in this seminar by
the presenters has been acquired through many years of experience, work and
education within their selected fields in the financial services industry.
They have generously decided to share that information with all the
attendees for free (all proceeds are going towards the Cancer Council of
Western Australia) so THAT THEY can make a difference to you! They will also
take the time to answer any specific questions that you might have after the
seminar (time permitting).
5. By purchasing a ticket to attend this seminar, YOU will be making a
difference towards the quality of life for someone suffering from cancer as
all proceeds go to the Cancer Council of Western Australia.
Seats are limited to the first 300 people!
