Not that I am a lawyer, but this sort of thing used to be a part of my
life.

The answer is 'yes'. Satisfactory means it's a valid reason other than
"I don't wanna".

In these situations the usual gambits are either:

1. The President formally resigns. A GM is required to fill the vacancy.
2. The VP stands in for the President who continues to send apologies.

I'd recommend 2. if we're near the AGM.
