What do you think, guys? She probably won't check here email over the
weekend, so I'll send it Sunday night. Feedback most welcome before then.

Hi Kylie,

The University Computer Club has in the past run a fairly wide range of
events.

One that you may be particularly interested in is our program of Tech Talks
- a speaker sourced from past or present UCC members or some technology
expert will present on a topic of their choice and participate in a
discussion with attendees, often accompanied by light catering. Deloitte's
networks in the technology industry could expand our pool of potential
speakers and promote the events to those we might not normally reach. In
exchange we could arrange some form of Deloitte brand presence, be that a
banner/visual display, naming rights to the event or similar.

This year we are again running our programming competition. A game is being
written by the competition organiser (I believe the game is quantum chess -
strategically unpredictable), and entrants will write an artificial
intelligence (AI) to play the game autonomously. The matches take place in a
tournament style, with points awarded primarily for victories over other
AIs. One feature of the competition in past years has been the variety of
programming languages used - experienced programmers are encouraged to use
languages they have less experience with, developing skills for all
involved. In return for a Deloitte brand presence in the competition,
Deloitte could perhaps provide sponsorship in the form of prizes for the top
competitors.

We may also be running an evening focussed on "Your Career in IT" or
similar. This is in the early concept stages, but would involve a series of
guests who can talk about their experiences in leaving uni and moving into
and through the workforce, and what resources were helpful to them in that
process.

Hopefully you find some of these event prospects interesting, and I look
forward to hearing from you.
