This email is sent to affect my immediate resignation from the UCC Committee as an Ordinary Committee member.
Despite my best efforts in the preceding weeks, it's become crystal clear to me that I do not have the trust, respect or confidence behind me of a large enough percentage of the club. Committee members need this behind them so that they can get on with the running of the club in as quick and painless a fashion as is possible.
A short perusal of the duties I would still have needed to complete as a Committee member point towards persons with the above qualities should be put in charge of starting the draft of UCCs Prospectus. This club DESPERATELY needs to pursue this as it will allow us to greatly increase the quality and quantity of events and services we can provide to our members.
Further to the Prospectus, someone (not necessarily from UCC) should be placed in charge of managing the lead up to the Cameron Hall Quiz Night. Though this was never a formal appointment by any of the involved clubs, I still feel that in order to do the job justice, the person managing the Night needs to have the respect of the general populous and committees of the clubs involved. I do not have this. Adam Marshall was to help me from UCC so perhaps he can (for the short term) work out who else will help to run the event this year (Ryan Nicholson from UniGames and several people from UniSFA had put their hands up)
Finally, O-Day participation. O-Day is supposed to be about wowing freshers and showing when what we can provide them as a club. I do not want to have the weight of my resignation or the past few weeks clouding over any freshers I may interact with on a club level so I think it best for the club if I steer clear entirely.
I hope the rest of the Committee year works out well.
Kind Regards
Jeremy Cole
