Dear UCC
(Greetings from dja's new home! He tells us much about the wonders of
the UCC...)
We’d like to let you know about CompCon 2013, a conference for computing
students being held by the ANU Computer Science Students’ Association
from 28-30 September.
CompCon 2013 is sponsored by the ANU College of Engineering and Computer
Science, the Defence Signals Directorate, National ICT Australia, Google
and the ANU Students’ Association.
CompCon will cover a broad spectrum of computing/IT topics that aren’t
necessarily covered in the regular curriculum. The topics will range
from high-level discussions about the IT industry to deeply technical
content about software development and current research in Computer Science.
We would very much appreciate it if you could let your members know
about this event. We’ve attached some information below that you can
forward out.
We realise that the cost of travelling to an event like this is quite
high for many students, and as such we’ve established a Travel
Scholarship Program. We are also encouraging students to apply for
financial support through their university’s student associations, as
many universities and student unions have grant programs that can assist
students in attending events such as this. We’d appreciate it if you
could investigate this - if you are interested, please contact us and we
can help work out a travel assistance program specifically for your members!
Part of our goal in organising CompCon is to help link clubs and
societies from around Australia, so we can exchange ideas and
collaborate on competitions and events - we’re looking forward to
meeting plenty of C&S execs from around the country, and would love to
see a representative from your committee!
We are also looking for speakers, and we would be interested in talks
from students from your university - especially honours/research
students, but if you’ve got any undergraduates who are good at public
speaking and have a project they’re passionate about, please encourage
them to apply! Some funding is available for speaker travel. More
details are available at http://compcon.net.au/cfp.
If you have any further questions please feel free to contact us for
more information.
Thank you!
Regards
Andrew Donnellan, Secretary, ANU CSSA
