When various groups (DnD, Magic and the grown men who play with cool looking toys) run there events there often a deficit of fans. So if you guys use fan(s) can you please return them to the loft before locking up. It's just a nice curtsy to your fellow Cameron Hall residents :). We should be able to get the important parts copied to a new disk ASAP. Merlo's hardware is a little picky about disks I'm afraid - it won't play nice with SSDs, and the case only takes 2.5" disks. I got lucky and one of the disks worked long enough for me to sync the raid from, so didn't have to rebuild it from backups. Door, snack and mifare all work. The serial console in the corridor isn't working; I couldn't remember which serial port it was plugged in to, and it doesn't seem to work in either port anyway. Committee: please reimburse me $150 for the disks. For those who haven't used it, Discord is a online, multi-device voice and text chat application, with a gamer focus. It's a proprietary service and they keep chat history for all time, so if committee doesn't approve I'll pull it down. Technical details: I created a container on medico and installed https://github.com/reactiflux/discord-irc then configured it to connect to a newly created Discord server. Currently I am the admin but the permissions are quite flexible so we can add people as required. Why did I do this? Discord has mobile and desktop apps, which means members who are not die-hard screen users will be able to see chat history from when they're not around. Basically it will hopefully increase engagement with our members who are actually studying at uni, rather than the old guard ghetto is has become. -- # TRS-80 trs80(a)ucc.gu.uwa.edu.au #/ "Otherwise Bub here will do \ # UCC Wheel Member http://trs80.ucc.asn.au/ #| what squirrels do best | [ "There's nobody getting rich writing ]| -- Collect and hide your | [ software that I know of" -- Bill Gates, 1980 ]\ nuts." -- Acid Reflux #231 / From trs80 at ucc.gu.uwa.edu.au Sat Dec 31 18:49:15 2016 From: trs80 at ucc.gu.uwa.edu.au (James Andrewartha) Date: Sat, 31 Dec 2016 18:49:15 +0800 (AWST) Subject: [committee] [tech] I set up a UCC Discord and IRC bridge bot In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: On Fri, 30 Dec 2016, James Andrewartha wrote: > I've been threatening to do it for a while, so now there is a UCC Discord, > with a bridge bot to #ucc. There was some discussion in #ucc today about this. You can join the Discord server by going to https://discord.gg/tckg2 (valid for 24 hours) and then scroll back up to read it! -- # TRS-80 trs80(a)ucc.gu.uwa.edu.au #/ "Otherwise Bub here will do \ # UCC Wheel Member http://trs80.ucc.asn.au/ #| what squirrels do best | [ "There's nobody getting rich writing ]| -- Collect and hide your | [ software that I know of" -- Bill Gates, 1980 ]\ nuts." -- Acid Reflux #231 /
