Hi all,
I suggest we invite the computer museum http://www.aceware.com.au/acms/
to come and go through out stuff, and take what that want.
I believe this has been done before, though not in at least a decade.
The stuff we still have is stuff they didn't want.
But it is now >10 years older and so more historical.
In particular, I think we would like to donate all our old manuals, and
source code printouts, which apparently they are specifically after.
And any of those they do not want to take, we throw out -- on the basis
that them not being willing to take the manuals means either they have a
copy (in which case if we need it we can borrow it from them), or the
manual is not worth keeping as it is available easily (eg it is online).
Further I suggest also old tech people are thinking of hacking on, to
get working again,
can also be donated.
On the basis that if people do want to hack on it and getting working
again -- I gather they like having working stuff.
We could always borrow it back from the museum to fix it -- and once
fixer organize a permanent loan, or just go borrow it on special
occasions eg O-Day (I'm sure something can be arranged).
Only things I can think that they might want, that we want more, are Murphy,
and the Dumb terms in the corridor (currently broken, despite Oscar,
JJohn Nguyen, and my own best efforts. But Liable to be able to be fixed
since they only broke a few months back)
What does committee think?
I think this is a good way to get rid of stuff, to a good home,
and further to a place we can access it again later.
