Hi All,

With the new year, we would like to remind everyone of the various roles
and responsibilities of being a door member, along with some other stuff we
would like to see implemented going forward.

Greetings:
As we approach O-Day, it is important that we turn focus to making sure
that new/potential members feel welcome. An easy way to do this is to say
hi to people walking into the room. This doesn't have to be every door
member present, but at least one person should be greeting them. This would
work best coming from people sitting on the couches or at computers facing
the door.

Vacuuming:
Given our lack of roof, a lot of dust and dirt falls in and covers the
floor. In order to combat this, we should be vacuuming the floor on a (at
least) weekly basis. I would like to see door members who open the room at
the start of the day doing this because less people around means it would
cause less disruption.

Rubbish:
In addition to the current stance on rubbish, we would like to see people
being more proactive with their rubbish. Instead of creating a pile of
rubbish on the desks to be taken out when leaving the room, we would like
door members to encourage the continuous disposal of rubbish. This will
make the room more aesthetically pleasing as well as hopefully reduce the
level of rubbish left in the room accidentally.

Cleaning:
In the same vein as vacuuming, we would like to see tabletops being wiped
down on a semi regular basis. As many of you know, the tables can get
pretty dirty from spills and dust, and they can often look pretty bad. We
will ensure that chux wipes are available to use, as well as paper towels
and surface spray.

Peripherals:
The worst and potentially most costly problem is that of people being
careless with regards to peripheral use in the clubroom. As well as
enforcing the removal of speakers, etc only with permission, we would like
for door members to be more strict on the state in which headphones,
microphones and other peripheral are left. It is unacceptable to have this
equipment just thrown between computers or hanging off desks. Long cables
should be coiled, and placed on top of the computer towers or back in the
peripherals tub. Misuse is what has/is causing the deterioration of these
items, and committee has no intentions of purchasing replacement heaphones
or microphones for the foreseeable future.

Charging Cables:
At the start of the year, we acquired a large amount of iPhone and miniUSB
charging cables from the Guild which were to allow members to charge their
phones in the room. As of now there are no cables left as they have all
been taken. While we will endeavour to get more, any new cables are NOT to
be removed clubroom. They are for member use in the clubroom ONLY, and
those taking cables without explicit permission should be punished in the
same manner as with any other clubroom equipment.

General:
Along with the policies outlined on the UCC website, below are links to the
UWA By-Laws and our current Tenancy Agreement. We as door members should
all be aware of these documents, especially the Tenancy Agreement, as it
directly relates to our standing with the Tenancy Committee and holding of
a clubroom.
