Dear Committee and current Door members,

I hereby submit my application to become a Door member.

Open Questions

Why do you want to be on Door?
As the 2018 Secretary of the University Computer Club, I feel
that I should be able to hold the clubroom open as people would
reasonably expect an executive committee member to be able to do.
What difference will putting you on Door make?
The club will be able to remain open in cases where I am around
in the room and no other members of the Door Group are present.

Policy Questions

Where would you find the Door Group policy?
The Door Group policy is accessible online at
https://www.ucc.asn.au/infobase/policies/door.ucc.
Why do we have door members?
The Door Group exists so that the Committee can delegate the
task of keeping the clubroom open to trusted and tested club members,
thus allowing the club to be open on a regular basis without causing
displeasure to the Guild.
Who should you contact with questions/concerns about the policy?
The Committee of the University Computer Club
(committee at ucc.asn.au).
How does committee officially contact Door members?
Through the Door Group mailing list (door at ucc.asn.au). Email
should be checked on a regular basis by all Door Group members.

Practical Questions

What is the vending machine code to unlock the door?
In order to request that The Door be dispensed from the vending
machine, one should enter the code 55 into the PIN pad, followed by,
assuming the correct configuration of all relevant computer softwares
and hardwares, The Door being dispensed.
If someone is violent, refuses to leave, or otherwise poses a
danger to people or property, you should call UWA Security. What is
their number? Give both the emergency and non-emergency numbers.
From within the University one may call the Emergency Security
number (2222) or the Non-Emergency Security number (3020).
From outside the University one may call the aforementioned
services on 0061864882222 and 0061864883020, respectively.
Briefly describe how the door system works (describe how the above
code actually unlocks the door).
The vending machine computer softwares (known as 'dispense')
which operate on the machine known as Merlo are designed to send a
control sequence to a relay driver, thus activating a relay which
permits the flow of current that consequently causes the electric door
strike, containing a solenoid, mounted in the door frame to mechanically
reconfigure itself to facilitate the opening of The Door.
If you are unable to unlock the door from the snack machine, how
else should you open the door? Give both methods.
The following answers may be considered appropriate.
         0. Locate the Guild Student Office (known more commonly as "The
Place Where One Shall Receive Ones Guild Stickers") and request access
to the clubroom key.
         1. By initiating a connection to the Matrix (hereby defined as
any of the machines named /m.+/ that one has permissions to connect to
and on which one can use the 'dispense' command) via SSH or using the
terminal conveniently located outside of the clubroom, and then running
the command `dispense door`.
The following answers may not be considerd so appropriate by
certain individuals.
         2. Using a suitable set of lockpicks and the associated skills.
         3. Entering the clubroom from above without opening the door,
and then opening the door from the inside.
Who has clubroom keys on their person and who is able to get the
clubroom key out from the Guild Student Centre?
The President, Vice President and Treasurer are the ones most
likely to be in possession of the clubroom key, and everyone on the
Guild key register as decided by the Committee should be able to
retrieve the key from the Guild Student Centre. And Bob.
What needs to be done when closing the clubroom?
Garbage, members and their property must be removed from the
clubroom and placed in the appropriate receptacles. Lights, fans and
miscellaneous electronic appliances that may be likely to cause problems
due to continuous unsupervised operation (such as the soldering iron)
should be turned off.
The machine room, tool cupboard, windows and clubroom door must
be shut and locked.
What needs to be done when leaving Cameron Hall?
The three doors (the fire escape "Hobbit" door, the door at the
top of the stairs, and the door at the bottom of the stairs) should be
closed and locked, in that order.
If you are unable to correct an issue with something in the
clubroom, who should you inform?
Depending on the issue, either the Committee, a Wheel member or
UWA Security.

Dispense Questions

What is your current dispense account balance?
         $2.68
What is the current balance of the account zanchey?
         $1.66
Where is the dispense log kept?
         /home/other/coke/cokelog*
What was the first drink dispensed this year?
         nullcoke
Name someone who is able to open the vending machines.
         Andrew "Bob" Adamson [BOB]
How would you rename slot 5 of the coke machine to vanilla coke?
         `dispense slot coke:5 'vanilla coke'`
How would you disable slot 33 of the snack machine?
         `dispense slot snack:33 dead`
What is wrong with this command: dispense acct Zanchey +500 "money
in safe bag 54"?
The username 'Zanchey' should be corrected to 'zanchey'.

Felix
