[committee] Door application and Apologies

To all committee and observers to this meeting, firstly i would like to apologise for my absence from this meeting, as i have a prior commitment that i am unable to miss (sailing - life is hard)

If it is procedural possible, i would like to summit a yes vote for the acceptance of Sheldon into door.
I must clarify that this statement was not made under significant duress.

Secondly i would like to submit my own application to door.  My reasons are numerous but the main ones of these are as follows.  Firstly i feel that the amount of time i am spending around the club would mean that if i am on door, i will extend the time the club is open by a small but noticeable amount.

Secondly i feel that there are certain aspects of the club culture that require tweaking, this is not to be confused with the recent flame wars, what i mean by this is that i would like to make some small but significant changes to the way in which new members to the club are welcomed (i feel that this has in the past been misinterpreted to be discriminatory and, debate over weather this is in fact the case aside,I would like to change this) the first step of this, as i see it, is to become on door to firstly assess the reality of the role before (as the second step) hopefully altering the door policy (with consultation of all stakeholders obviously) to hopefully address this.

Thirdly, I think that there is a need for the club to be kept in a bit more of a tidy state, and I feel that it would be inappropriate to try to address this issue without firstly, putting myself into a position in which i am required to uphold it.

I would also like to address the point of the time that i have been a member of the club, ( since the beginning of semester) whilst i have only been a member of the club for a very brief time, i think that the amount of time that i have been around the club has been sufficient for people to get to know my attitudes, opinions and personality.

So lastly I do not care weather or not I am accepted as door, however as I see it, me being on door will be in the benefit of the club as a whole.
