Hello from PAC! Fringe Festival UWA 2019 | Grant$ | Social Impact Week |
and MORE!

In this email:

  * Introduction from Nitin
  * Who is PAC 2019?
  * Fringe Festival UWA 2019
  * PAC Grant Applications (New & Improved!)
  * Social Impact Week

  Hello!

I’m Nitin your 2019 PAC President. Fun fact about myself, I've been in 5
musical productions!

For those of you that don’t know, PAC stands for Public Affairs Council,
which is a subsidiary council of the UWA Student Guild. The PAC
Committee (there are 7 of us) are dedicated to providing students, like
you, with events that promote community involvement and awareness. We do
so by providing Guild-affiliated clubs with focuses on the arts,
culture, performance, political, volunteering and social impact an
opportunity to work together in running and collaborating in events that
ensure that campus life is vibrant and interesting.

These clubs have access to further funding for their events, and we
particularly encourage them to work collaboratively to support each
other's like-minded goals and messages. These collaborations often occur
during the many theme weeks that the Public Affairs Council holds.

Something I hear a lot of confusion about is whether or not a club can
be both a SOC and PAC club. The answer is yes. In fact, to be a PAC
club, you MUST be a SOC club.

The clubs that are affiliated with PAC are clubs that promote community
involvement and awareness like mentioned above, so not all SOC clubs can
attempt PAC affiliation.

Not sure if your club is a PAC club or not? Check the list below!

Think your club should be a PAC club?
Email Nitin at *pac at guild.uwa.edu.au* <mailto:pac at guild.uwa.edu.au> to
ask about affiliation!
Think your club is already a PAC club but isn't on the list above?
Still email Nitin!

What is PAC Doing this Year?

Fringe Festival UWA is back in 2019 with our new theme: Share the Moment!

Watch out as Week 9 pops off in a celebration of the arts and culture
with buskers, cultural demos and interactive displays.

The UWA Student Guild Public Affairs Council is aiming even higher this
year by expanding our reach from the residential colleges all the way to
Business School!

Make sure to keep and eye out for freebies from our amazing sponsors and
the inclusive events that highlight the beauty of arts and culture.
You'll be captivated and engaged from the moment you step on campus to
the second you step off.

We're also looking for clubs, societies, and facsocs to collaborate with
us in running the Guild's largest theme week. These events can be as big
or as small as you'd like, and you don't need to be PAC-affiliated to
join the fun!

We'd love to make a big shoutout to so many clubs for already getting
involved, from the Film Society to HSS to Photography Club to KCC to
Students for Refugees!

If your club is thinking of getting involved, don't hesitate to contact
Gi Soo (Head of Fringe Festival UWA 2019) or Amy (Head of
Collaborations)! It's not too late to get involved, but please email
ASAP as your collaborations must be finalised by 19 April.

(Also if you or anyone know you know fancies supporting Relay for Life
while getting some extra volunteer hours and has a talent or two, we're
also looking for buskers and performers!

Email Amy!

If you're a PAC-affiliated club, we can help cover some of the cost for
running an event during Fringe Festival UWA 2019.

This is a multi-step process:
1. Fill out the form linked below
2. You'll receive an email telling you that you have successfully
submitted an application
3. A few days later, you'll receive another email with a link to Google
Drive folder. This for you to upload ALL of your receipts related to
your event, make sure that you have proof of purchase
4. After Fringe Festival, you'll be sent a form to summarise your payments
5. Send this form to Doris and it'll be considered for reimbursements

Similar to SOC grants and reimbursements, this will not be a full
reimbursement and will depend on many factors one of which is your
attendance at SOCPAC Meetings this year so far.

The deadline for these grants have been extended to 17th April @ 11:59PM.

In week 12 this semester, we'll be holding our Social Impact Week! This
week is about bringing awareness and most importantly impact, to areas
which are most often avoided. This year we're tackling a wide range of
topics from homelessness to sex education to refugee rights.

We will also be collaborating with Guild Volunteering as week 12 is also
National Volunteer Week!

If your club is interested in running a social impact-focused event
during week 12, feel free to email Ira, our Head of Social Impact Week,
to indicate your interest and for more information.

Email Ira!

*/PSST!/* Does your club have a focus on faith or language? Faith Week
and Language Week are coming up in the first half of semester two so
keep your eyes and ears open for emails from us and make sure you attend
SOCPAC Meetings for the most up to date information!
