Hi Door members,

Long time, no see! (For most of you, at least.)

I'm pleased to announce that under the new Guild rules that came into
effect today 20 July, we are now permitted to have people back in the
room! Committee (& helpers) are currently finalising the room layout and
making sure we comply with all the requirements, but we're aiming to
open later this week. Keep your eyes peeled for an ucc-announce@ email
once we're ready to publish the details.

    New Clubroom Rules

As part of our opening under Government & Guild Phase 4 rules, we've got
some extra obligations to uphold as the people responsible for the club
space. These include:

  * Making sure people stay away from the club if they are sick,
    especially with a cough.
  * Maintaining the strict occupancy limit as posted on our Covid Safety
Plan (currently 11). This is a non-negotiable part of reopening
under Phase 4. To ensure social distancing, there will also be only
6 desktops open for use. As part of your role as the responsible
Door member, you'll need to make sure they get used according to the
usage guidelines, and be proactive in ensuring they get shared fairly.
  * Ensuring frequent cleaning of common surfaces. We are providing
plenty of sanitiser, isopropyl alcohol, cleaning sprays and wipes.
You're not expected to do all the cleaning, but you need to make
sure it gets done. In particular, we've detached all the keyboards
and mice and put them on the shelves near the entrance. Individual
users will be responsible for taking them out and putting them back,
and cleaning them both before and after use with isopropyl alcohol.
After someone has packed up and left, please make sure the desk gets
    wiped down too.
  * One final thing: unfortunately, for the time being, we won't be
taking cash for Dispense credit. I'll be making sure the Square
reader is up and running, and I'll include an explanation of how to
use it in the Door induction.

    Covid Training

As part of our prepared Covid Safety Plan, we have committed to having
at least one COVID-19 Hygiene Course-certified member in the room at all
times. /*That means if you want to hold the room, you'll need to have
completed the course.*/

You can find a link to it here:
https://hospitalityhygiene.com/aha-covid-19-hospitality-tourism-hygiene-course/.
It's free and should only take about half an hour (on-and-off) to
complete. Once you've passed and have received the certificate, please
send a copy to this list so we have it on file.

    Door (Re-)Inductions

For some of you who were just added to Door before the closure, you
never had the chance to get walked through the ins & outs of holding the
room. For the rest of you, it's been long enough I'll forgive you for
forgetting the lockbox code! I'll be running an online Door
induction/meeting session on Thursday from 5:30pm: new Door members
strongly encouraged to attend, all welcome. Access it here:
https://meetings.ucc.asn.au/b/jam-3ra-wjk. I'll also record it for those
of you who can't make the time.

Hope to see you all around, and I wish everyone all the best for semester 2.

Cheers,

James [MPT]
/UCC President/
