Hi all,The following is a post made by the SOC President to the Presidents of SOC Clubs Facebook group. Unfortunately the contents haven't been communicated to us in any other way.Cheers,James [MPT]👉Post SOC Meeting Updates👈Thank you so much for coming to our first post-iso SOC Meeting on Tuesday. It was absolutely amazing to see so many Clubs gathered together after so long apart, and ready to start Semester 2 with a bang! 💥Just a few developments and updates from my end that have come to my attention since Tuesday evening.Sem 2 Club Carnival As repeatedly stated, Club Carn is happening Tuesday Week 2. The Registration Form has been released - please fill this in ASAP to make sure you get a spot on the day.We will be providing the tables but it's BYO Marquee. There will not be power sources supplied, if you need a speaker/anything tech-related, please make sure that you have batteries/your equipment is fully charged on the day etc. Also - libcal bookings will be available from Monday 3rd August (see below) - esp re marquee/EFTPOS hire). If you are going to be serving food at your stall, please get in touch with Eleanor (soc-secretary at guild.uwa.edu.au). I'm aware that this is not ideal timing but it's the best that could be done in the circumstances. We're trying to give as much notice/time to play with as possible and apologise for any inconvenience caused by these circumstances outside our control. CCZ and Club SpacesUWA has a Recovery Group that is coordinating the transition back to in-person use of buildings. This includes Club Spaces and Cameron Hall. We were previously advised that all Club Spaces and Clubrooms would reopen as per usual by Monday 20th July. However, this is no longer to be the case. As of Monday, Cameron Hall will be reopening on the 20th, but only to current students with student cards. This is for contact-tracing purposes. Cameron Hall is not open to members of the public or non-current UWA student. The CCZ will only be open to club exec's. LibcalThe date for Libcal reopening has been tentatively set for the 1st August. For this reason, clubs will only be able to hire equipment/book spaces/etc through Libcal from Monday 3rd August. Guild President Bre Shanahan remains in close discussion with the UWA Recovery Group. I will update you all on any further updates re Club spaces and Libcal as soon as I receive any new information. SPG'sThe first wave of SPG's has now closed. Thank you all for your Grant Applications. The SOC Treasurer and the Finance Subcommittee will work on processing these in the coming weeks and we will notify you as soon as the Allocations have been sent to Finance. As I said at the SOC Meeting, we will work to get your Grants to you before the start of Semester 2 (at the latest, by the end of week 1). If you have any questions re Grants, please get in touch with Jameson (soc-treasurer at guild.uwa.edu.au).The second wave of SPG's will open on the 31st July (see previous posts for more info). SOC Subcommittee ApplicationsMuch to my delight, we have been absolutely inundated with applications for the SOC Subcommittee! At the time of writing, we have currently received a whopping 49 applications! The applications will remain open until 11:59pm THIS FRIDAY (24th July), and we will notify all applicants on the outcome of their applications by Wednesday 29th July. We're aiming to take on 12 new members to the Subcommittee. If anyone is unsuccessful in their application, please bear in mind that this is not a slight on you or your abilities - there has been an extremely high volume of applications and we are absolutely blown away by the eagerness of all applicants to get involved. For all applicants, and anyone interested, keep an eye out later this year for the election for next year's SOC and PAC Committee's (circa October - date TBC). SOC President Absence 20th-24th JulyNext week, I will be swamped with deferred JD exams (what fun!) and will not be very responsive/active on email/social media during this time. For next week, please direct any emails/queries to Omar and Eleanor. If it's urgent and can't wait, they'll forward anything onto me and I'll get onto it as soon as I can. In the meantime, enjoy the remainder of your Semester Break and I can't wait to begin another amazing Semester - let's make this one the biggest one yet! 🔥💎🙌Jacob Roosendaal SOC President
