Hi everyone!
For those of you who don't know, I'm James, the outgoing UCC president
for 2020.
I'm sending out this email to everyone who our records indicate signed
up fresh in 2020 or 2021, or has expressed interest in joining the club
this year. For those of you new to the club, welcome, and for those of
you thinking of signing up, we hope to see you around.
*Fresher Welcome*
UCC's Fresher Welcome 2021 is on this evening, starting from 4pm in the
clubroom. It's a great chance to get to know your fellow members, create
your club account (if you haven't already), and learn more about what we
have to offer. There will be games, and pizza (free for new and
returning 2020 members, $5 otherwise). See our Facebook event for more:

If you haven't yet signed up or paid your membership, this will be a
great opportunity to do so.
*Annual General Meeting*
Our Annual General Meeting is also coming up on this Thursday at 5pm.
That's where members like you get to have a say on how the club is run.
We'll be electing our new 2021 committee, whose job it is to oversee the
day-to-day running of the club. If you're a first-year student, there's
even a position dedicated to you: the Fresher Rep, who makes sure new
members have a voice on the committee. We'd love to see as many
nominations as possible, but even if you don't plan on running, your
vote is important! Facebook link:

*Getting Started with Linux*
The first club Tech Talk of the year is "Getting Started with Linux",
presented by me. It's on 9 March at 5:30pm, and we'll be going over how
to get Linux up and running, and the most important tips and tools to
start making use of it. This will come in handy if you're studying
Computer Science!
We've got many more interesting events in the works for the year, so
stay tuned. The best way for you to keep advised of important UCC
announcements is to create your account with us (if you haven't
already). That'll automatically put you onto the mailing list. You can
also join us on Discord via the following invite: https://discord.gg/aPpvXGy
My best,
James Arcus
/UCC President/
