Hi, all! Seems like it's dead PSU season (see `kerosene`, yesterday).
About 15-18 months ago, I brought in a Supermicro TwinServer, as
no-strings-attached decommissioned hardware:

Could I ask that UCC buys its own PSUs (budgets/motions to authorise
the purchase of), while they're still cheap and available on ebay? and
hopefully add it to this semester's grants rebates.
There are probably several compatible PSUs, but the current models are:
PWS-2K04A-1R
Could be about AUD $30 to $110 each?

I don't think we need more than two right now, if one fails I'll lend
back a spare.
I tested/triaged 3 TwinServers in the process; of 6 PSUs, 3 had failed,
which may be part of why they came our way. I also wiped some of the
1TB drives ready to use for testing or boot or donor drive caddies;
set up network, DNS and consoles to two of the four nodes. Done some
testing since then, and it was useful for the `molmol` rebuild. Using
one for Proxmox upgrades seems like it's still blocked on doing a full
backup before we start. Some extra RAM is available for consolidation.
I'm happy to help with the logistics of making the final order, getting
it delivered, testing, returning them in case of DoA. This also goes
for other current needs such as drives and drive adaptors, console
cables, etc.
Thanks,
Nick.

I wasn't trying to add to our backlog of hardware commissioning -

various IBMs, etc... but:
- we'd just turned `mooneye` off; and
- it was newer than all our other servers bar `machop` - and 8 times its rack density
