Hi! For those of you who don't know me, my name is Alexandra and I'm the social events rep for CASSA.
(Those who do know me might know me as Eskilla.)

Yesterday in IRC, discussion with spartan and tpg of UCC resulted in the idea of a party hosted by both of our clubs sometime next month. We'd probably hold it at UCC's clubroom as theirs is actually big enough to call it a room - CASSA's is more like a clubcloset*. We could order some catering - pizza, subway platters, and nando's platters were discussed, but pretty much every fast food place does catering at this point - and pre-pay it out of our club funds. Attendees could pay a set fee (about $8 should cover it) to reimburse the clubs. I figure as long as we have good, solid RSVP numbers, we should be able to do this.

UCC has plenty of computers, so you guys could provide the PC games - perhaps even set up a Artemis ship for walk-up/drop out play. CASSA has a PS3 to offer, and I'm sure between our memberships we could hustle up a couple more consoles. Not sure what COMSSA has.

Food+Games+a music system=awesome fun times.

We'll want to make sure that we have the right amount of food and games for attendees (and in this, my main concern would be buying too much food and bringing more consoles then we need, resulting in extra work). I think the first order of business on the Mixer would be each club determining who's likely to show up to a party with a small entry fee (as that can change likely numbers). Ask around, do a poll, request emails - whatever you think will work best with your individual club, but please impress upon members that we need reliable attendance numbers to plan this for maximum awesomeness.

First Order of Business: Is your club interested? Will your club be able to front some money for catering? How many of your members do you think will show? What funtimes-related resources will your club be able to provide (consoles, PC's if we don't have this at UCC, sound system, lights maybe)?

Thanks,
Alexandra
Events Rep, CASSA
Edith Cowan University

*although, I keep hearing something about UCC moving rooms, or doing renovation, or something?? Not sure what the sitch is, but if that's not do-able we can book our usual MegaLAN space at ECU ML. That's got 3 projectors and capacity of about 100 people; it should be fine.**

**Actually, before we pick a place, maybe we should try to figure out a likely attendance number - UCC's got a good amount of space, but I get the impression from COMSSA's FB page that they might be DTP*** and if there's enough people, ECU ML might be more suitable. I don't know. Let's get those numbers.
