There has been a fair bit of angst from delegates on the lca
[chat] list because they got on a plane and -then- got an email
saying they needed to print their lca boarding pass to paper in
order to register. There is a alternative way to register that
hasn't been designed for efficiency that (I think) requires some
ID and "physical person auth" to register. <br>

Most people that haven't got a dead tree boarding pass -do- have
a copy in an email on their laptops. Can we set up, in the
registration area, a self serve printing kiosk with the sole
purpose of printing boarding passes. I had the notion is could
be a network printer (hopefully with DHCP) or a PC and parallel
printer (whatever) attached to a 24port switch with a swarm of
cat5 cables hanging out that people can just plug-and-print.
This means some negotiation of picking up the right piece of
paper but I'm sure people can figure that out. <br>

If you think it's do-able, I'd suggest asking Luke John if it's
workable. <br>
And I'm also assuming UCC has a mono or colour printer with
enough toner to print maybe 100 to 200 of the boarding passes. <br>

If Luke says go, as soon as you have a tested solution I can
email onto [chat] saying "remain calm and don't try to serch out
a printer .. we'll have this system [description ..]" <br>

Anyway, I'm down at TAVNOC tomorrow if you are going. I know
there will be -plenty- to do tomorrow since I did drop in in the
morning to chat to Jason about the AV setup and ended up
measuring some cable lengths etc. I know there is a -lot- of
config and installation to do for the AV and some vol work is
just remaining in the room if another person needs to dash back
to TAVNOC for a missing item (we can't get back into the room
unless someone stays put and also to guard the gear during setup
and test. But I'm ure there is a lot more besides to be done. <br>
