<p dir="ltr">Hello Committee,</p>
<p dir="ltr">I want to discuss a couple of things about the changes to the clubs operating hours.</p>
<p dir="ltr">I have spoken to a couple of committee members about this already, so it should cone as no surprise that I am against the changes.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Firstly, in my mind the committee has made a ambitious leap to banning the clubs primary resource (exceptions not withstanding). This hits harder still when the minutes of the meeting feel like an attack on door group. I'm going to address a quote from the meeting.</p>
<p dir="ltr">"If we can't rely on door to fix these issues on an individual level"</p>
<p dir="ltr">There should have been more of an effort to contact door. If there is an issue committee feels door should be addressing then ASK DOOR TO ADDRESS IT. Beyond the mailing lists, Committee has the ability to call for a meeting of door group. Set the expectations like that of a busy bee (or even call a busy bee around the meeting). Send in Apologies or expect to be removed from door.</p>
<p dir="ltr">The door group consists of people the committe has elected and at least 50% of these people who have been on a university club committee (and i honestly think i am low balling the number). No-one is going to think that improving the club is a bad idea. I reject the notion that there a people on door simply for availability and not for their ability to contribute to the club.</p>
<p dir="ltr">If you want to change the way the club behaves and appears, door is your best tool and it feels like you are not even trying to include them. </p>
<p dir="ltr">Regardleds of how it was handled, my main objection to this is change is I do not think it will be effective. You want to improve the clubs image by targeting a time when the only people even likely to be in the room are longstanding members of the club.</p>
<p dir="ltr">If the plan is to remove instances of 'sweaty overnight nerd grossness', then be blunt and tell that person. If its to say no sleeping in UCC then change that stigma from a 'technically uni rules state no sleeping on campus' to 'Door Members are expected to wake up and remove people sleeping in UCC'.</p>
<p dir="ltr">These points are no doubt covered in the committee meeting but I feel it needs reiterating considering that I heard about this coursenof action ONCE, and did not hear so from a committee member, before seeing the minutes.</p>
