Hi Juin & ComSSA committee,

Just a quick followup from our meeting this morning - and I hope
this aid discussions amongst yourselves about where this can go.

Some quick info about the camp we will be running this year
(although currently in very early stages of planning) - it will be
at Camp Leschenaultia,
either 2 or 3 days over the weekend of 12-14 July 2019 (2 weeks
before start of UWA semester 2). There is a wiki page for the
camp we held last year which should give a reasonable idea of how
the event has been run in the past.

I don't know what sorts of bureaucratic procedures the Curtin
Student Guild requires for large events (or anything applicable to
advertising "external" events such as this), but as far as
possible if running this as a joint event, it would be most
convenient to leave the form-filling to UCC and the UWA Student
Guild. However, if you are keen to get involved in the
organisation/planning, or if you have any suggestions that might
make it more attractive to ComSSA members, or are willing to help
out with planning activities and finding volunteers, then there is
still plenty of scope to collaborate.

The ComSSA server, currently colocated in the UCC clubroom, is a
2 rack-unit IBM System x3650. One of its disks sounds like it has
failed (it's making a repeated clicking/grinding noise, so almost
certainly a head crash). If you would like to come in at some
point to have a look at it (and possibly even take it away), we
can organise a meeting at UCC any time that suits.

Regarding official contact, we have a UCC Discord server,
bridged to IRC, which you are welcome to join (even if just to
have someone to @mention when trying to coordinate stuff), and of
course email is fine.

As mentioned, there is also the UWA Programming Competition Society
which runs programming competitions and weekly educational
seminars for its members.

Hear from you soon!

Best regards,
