It is important that a motion of expulsion is valid under the WA associations law. A layman's explanation of what i'm talking about can be found at page 74/75 here:<br>

If Melissa has done something worthy of expulsion, it is important that the legal processes are followed to avoid the club being dragged into an expensive & embarrassing hearing at the State Administrative Tribunal; which she would be able to do at little expense
to herself. This would be a big waste of club resources.</div>

I recommend rescheduling the motions to a time when Melissa has the ability to respond, or giving Melissa a week to respond to the allegations in writing.<br>

TLDR: If expulsion is warranted, do it properly to avoid the potential for expensive waste at the SAT.<br>

This means not denying someone natural justice. Natural justice is essentially a fair hearing.

<div dir="ltr">Hi Alfred,
<div><br>
</div>
<div>It came up at an OGM as apposed to a committee meeting because no-one on the committee requested it or motioned for it.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>A member of the club felt that this matter which impacts the club should be brought up, and they requested that it be put on the agenda.</div>
<div>As this is a general meeting, club members have a right to add items that they wish to be discussed to the agenda, and that's why it is there.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Item 2 comes up under the constitution in section 21.1: 21. Cancellation of Membership 1. The Club may cancel the membership of any member of the Club, should that member have acted in a manner contrary to the best interests of the Club.
</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>As a member of the committee, I know that the committee has been dealing with ongoing fallout from the events earlier in the year, as I'm sure you know if you are keeping up with at least some of the minutes of the committee meetings.</div>
<div>Personally, I believe that discussing this at a general meeting rather than a committee one would be better for ensuring that the discussion would be more inclusive of the diverse opinions of the club members and enable the club to make a decision without
the committee being accused of acting with impropriety.<br>
</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>We have also, I believe, not had a committee meeting since the items were requested to be added to the agenda due to the university holidays and committee's availability.</div>

</div>
<div>I hope that all makes sense,</div>
