<html><head></head><body><div dir="auto">Hi Ethan,<br><br>We are certainly interested by the idea as we are currently in the process of rebuilding our own backup infrastructure. <br>Our homedir is an interesting setup, as we technically have two.<br>We have our main /home on our servers, and /away which is mounted as /home on our Windows and Linux desktops.<br>All up it's about 4.5TB. Theoretically we could just backup /home, but doing both is the ideal.<br>At the moment we are building two servers to act as a backup staging server, and an off-site backup at a local school. We are trying to build it out to have plenty of space for the future (and all of our non /home storage), so including other clubs is a possibility.<br>One small issue, it seems that most of the clubs you've contacted are in the US. We are in Western Australia, so I think there might be a bit of latency and speed issues. alumni data, it is important to follow all aspects of 3-2-1 backups.
Offsite needs to be done properly! CSUA currently lives in a strange
niche: the University took away free Box subscriptions years ago, and on
the other hand, paying for it ourselves is not worth it, given the
amount of user data (2TB in homedirs, 9TB total) we currently have (as
opposed to our OCF brethren, which <b>does</b> use a paid backup provider) and our budget.<br><br>I
am aware that many execs' terms will end soon, but I am fine with
planning being done ASAP, and implementation of this plan should begin
with new execs coming in immediately with the fall semester (or
