[tech] Mermaid's install

Mermaid now has most of the packages it had before. Thanks to James for 
showing me the correct dpkg commands to feed its old package list through.
Some of the more obviously unwanted packages have been removed, but at 
least this way mermaid is fully usable for O'Day.
