Subject: [wheel] meito (the new fileserver)
The new filserver is up and running, with 75gig of RAID 1 storage under
/space. It does NIS, mounts /home and /services RW, has all r* services
and telnet disabled, only allows wheel members to log in via ssh, runs ntp
(Andrew - /etc/inet/ntp.conf), has a WAIX IP. There's a fair selection of
Sun Freeware in /opt/sfw - the iso is in /root, mount it with lofiadm to
install anything else from it.
Things that need to be looked at - nfs with morwong is a bit odd (getting
timeouts sometimes), sendmail needs to be configured sanely (Mark).
We also need to work out a policy on how to manage /space. One suggestion
is to have home directories for mounting under XP using samba. I'm just
moving the sgi freeware respositry from mussel to meito atm.
