[tech] SMTP port 25 and user unknown

Hi all

In an attempt to lower the spam burden upon the UCC, I have configured
asclepius to use Postfix address verification:
  http://www.postfix.org/ADDRESS_VERIFICATION_README.html

I am applying "reject_unverified_sender" to the domains:
  ucc.asn.au
  ucc.gu.uwa.edu.au
  ucc.guild.uwa.edu.au

Asclepius will now open a connection and verify that one of the UCC MXes
will accept mail for the address each RCPT TO: line it receives. If this
causes trouble, please contact me and I will disable it.

This should vastly limit the amount of mail accepted by asclepius to
non-existent UCC mail addresses. Hopefully that will  lower the bill until
the mail server is shifted over east.

Please be aware that this configuration change may be reverted at any time
by ITS. We are not committing to provide this service.
