Yep - someone patched port 9 on the wall (white cable into the filing
cabinet switch) into bertoli port 5. This made fenetar work on the
uwa.net.au network, which is probably what the person doing it wanted,
but totally broke everything else :-P

Not a matter of a long cable, just of moving a patch. I've left
fenetar on uwa.net.au by patching it into wall-port 14 and replacing a
dud patch cable in the room.

We really, really, really need to replace links between switches with
cables that have ends! I managed to disconnect the
back-of-machine-room switch (that connects the Sun and that PC on the
desk near the door) and it turned out I'd -nudged- port 18 on bertoli,
which had disconnected the link.
