actinic, our plotter, appears to have finally lost enough of its functions 
to be broken.

* The LCD stopped displaying a while ago
* The network interface stopped accepting LPR jobs, also a while ago
* The parallel interface has recently stopped accepting jobs

This means we can no longer print to it.

Things that still work:
* The controls on the front
* The network port (responds to pings and the telnet interface works)

I don't really have any plans for fixing it other than "pull it apart and 
have a look" at some stage. However, this is rather irritating as there 
have been several requests for plotting recently.

(We also owe Fugro FSI a roll of A0 150gsm plain paper.)

Subject: [tech] Wireless AP (clearwing) firmware upgrade

There's been intermittent, nonspecific reports of people having trouble 
with the wireless. As far as I can make out, sometimes people can't 
associate to the AP and/or get an IP (no definitive data on which).

I've upgraded the firmware on the wireless to OpenWRT 7.09 (Kamikaze) and 
added the X-WRT web interface, which is reasonably slick. I'm not really 
sure if the WDS connection with UniSFA's AP is still working, but I'll 
take a look tomorrow or Thursday when I have a laptop.

If people are still experiencing problems, or find that this has helped, 
please provide some feedback.

Nope, slot 0 empty detection is dead again. Might need another 0.22uF
high voltage capacitor.

The neon light flickers on and off, it's probably dying, too.

I've migrated /space from manbo to musundo. nfs is working, samba is 
working (after some swearing and then realising pam.conf needed updating). 
maroon works, I assume the thinterms will as well. backups will still run 
from manbo as the tape library is still connected to it. There's probably 
other things that have broken, please reply if you notice anything not 
working right.
