BRIEF:
Brief (10 minutes) outages of the University’s connection to the Internet.

DATE:
Sunday 12th December 2010

TIME:
10 minute outage between  07:00-08:00  (7am – 8am)
10 minute outage between 20:00-21:00  (8pm – 9pm)

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: AARNet, which operates the University’s connection to 
the Internet, will be moving our connection point (PoP) to the new CSIRO 
data centre (in Bentley). To do this they need to switch our Internet 
connection to an interim connection while they do the move. This will 
require two brief outages: first, to switch us to the interim router, and 
then to switch us back to our normal connection point once the move is 
complete.  The move itself will take 10-12 hours but each outage will be 
about 5 to 10 minutes.

IMPACTS: During this outage, access to and from the Internet will not be 
available. Any incoming email would be queued up and so will not be lost.

ALSO, please remember that as earlier advised, on that same day, the 
campus telephony system will be down between 10am and 5pm.
