I gave my local unit a bit more of a thrashing. The throughput dropped
off reasonably quickly outside of my small living room.
There's a dlink model which has been suggested to me - it's a dual 2/5ghz
band unit and it apparently has much better range and throughput.

Cue the D-Link DIR-825.

11n, 2/5ghz simultaneously (2+ath9k NICs), runs openwrt, 4+1 gige port,
USB2.

On the flip-side it's around $200. But as I said, I've been told by
other wifi developers that this unit Definitely Doesn't Suck.
