It's a WSGI application running as the user ffxsync on mussel in /home/other/ffxsync Setup was fairly straightforward (modulo NFS performance sucking) following http://docs.services.mozilla.com/howtos/run-sync.html - we're using a PostgreSQL database for storage and auth, with no quota and no CAPTCHA. You'll have to register to use it - the LDAP auth is some custom Mozilla thing, it's not suitable for use against an existing LDAP directory. In other news, Firefox 14 is actually really good, very snappy and it feels like my computer's been upgraded. -- # TRS-80 trs80(a)ucc.gu.uwa.edu.au #/ "Otherwise Bub here will do \ # UCC Wheel Member http://trs80.ucc.asn.au/ #| what squirrels do best | [ "There's nobody getting rich writing ]| -- Collect and hide your | [ software that I know of" -- Bill Gates, 1980 ]\ nuts." -- Acid Reflux #231 / From bob at ucc.gu.uwa.edu.au Wed Aug 8 19:23:47 2012 From: bob at ucc.gu.uwa.edu.au (Andrew Adamson) Date: Wed, 8 Aug 2012 19:23:47 +0800 (WST) Subject: [tech] Meersau Message-ID: Meersau isn't POSTing after the power outage today. I do not have time to spend on it, so it would be great if somebody else can look at it. Seeing as it's not a core server, this probably one for the newer wheel members to tinker with. We should start a betting pool or something on how long it'll stay alive for this time. The old meersau had a dead vga port and wouldn't boot so I had to switch the two good disks into a "new" 1RU Charlie to get it to go. qrqd helped with the raid bits and it has now got a new(er) disk to replace the old one. We don't have any spare parts for it now, so if parts die now, we need to look at other options. So, what do we want to buy/build? So, what do we want to > buy/build? Mylah currently: - hosts the large secondary disk array which is 762GB of data - is the primary initiator for the EMC SAN (which holds /mp3s and miscellaneous large data stores) - shares both of these via NFS and Samba - is the Samba domain master - is the Xen Dom0 for Mussel If we get a 64-bit machine with paravirtualisation support, we could have a VM cluster rather than running Xen on one server and kvm on the other. The data off it is spread across the SAN, the netapp, and backups are now in Arts. I'm not convinced we should be trying to replace the array on a new mylah.
