On the topic of completely irrelevant comments:

I'm not sure if I told the list before, but the robotnik IRC bot is run 
as a screen session for clubroom at robotnik with irssi in one window, set 
to log everything, and a terrible bash script running in another window 
which greps that log for things to say.

This has proven quite confusing for people to work out how to use.

An easier way is to just run festival directly.
