I was hoping one of the newer members would have responded by now... but one reason it's been quiet could be that you're a new name to most, although you've popped into UCC chat before? As a CSSC/UCC collaboration thing, you might find an existing UCC member or three that wants to set up and maintain this machine. Someone needs to be able to actually log into it and into the VM host cluster, after all. ...or Ashley - want to rejoin? It's been a while! Personally, I'd start by coming to a UCC event, and if it's the place for you, sign up: https://www.ucc.asn.au/member/2019/ At that point - it's mostly DIY. We have "learn2" training sessions now and then, but they're both demand and supply driven. Before you get too far with setting up a fresh dedicated VM... I used to run a modded 1.11.2 server on hardware Frames set up, running MineOS. I hand-roll a pack, which I manage using the SKcraft launcher (and related tools) plus small collection of shell/perl scripts. http://minecraft2017.ucc.asn.au/ Oh, it's all still there! *blows dust away, turns UCCcraft#2 server back on* And still works! Colour me surprised. Anyway, the machine is overspecced for what's on it, and can comfortably accomodate another heavyweight modded minecraft server. Just an option. :P > I might be able to come to the monday project night for a bit too if > someone is there who can help get things setup. > > (Also, if anyone has any strong opinions about what they want to see in a > server I'm more than happy to hear them) My must-haves tend to include: AE2, architecturecraft, ender-io, extreme reactors, hwyla, jei, rftools, the CoFH family, and either voxelmap or journeymap. I usually also include audiovisual bling in the form of > optifine, better foliage, dynamic surroundings, and sound-filters. All good with AE2, HWYLA, NEI. I've recently hacked in architecturecraft, better foliage and journeymap without issue. Currently testing some of potentially client only and server only mods. I should mention I've currently built this pack mainly for OpenComputers and the tech/power mods of IC2, GregtechCE and NuclearCraft. CoFH and Thermal Expansion I know is an alternative power system to this however I've left it out since it is an easier ecosystem whereas IC2 and Gregtech are more engineering oriented. Still not perfectly though since there is only a concept of low voltage and high voltage and no AC/DC :( Ender IO needs some compatibility tweaking to work nicely with the other mods atm, it appears the issues are related to duplicate recipes. Some other considerations to make are: * factions? * player progression ideas? * support chat with multiple discord servers? * admins? * spawn building? * additional vanilla server? * extra worldgen mods? If you'd like to check it out I have a stable version up here: https://www.technicpack.net/modpack/cssc-pack.1425650 (I haven't updated the description in a while) Cal. Personally, I was there this week, but (might not be)/(might not be early) next week. Mind you - most any daytime in the clubroom should be fine as well, or sorting it out online, just waiting for volunteers. No such thing as a good/bad time for all - e.g. you'll either [not] find people busy studying, or they'll be busy avoiding study, which can be quite productive... You absolutely can have your own VM, or share with Michael, or take backups/snapshots of it while trialing mods and upgrades. It does help to have more active people keeping fewer separate machines secure and up-to-date. Next I'd recomment subscribing to this (Cc:'ed) list (and/or the main ucc at ucc one) and keeping it up-to-date with how far you've gotten, or any [lack of] responses. https://lists.ucc.gu.uwa.edu.au/mailman/listinfo > On Fri, 13 Sep. 2019, 7:06 pm Nick Bannon, wrote: > > [...] Personally, I'd start by coming to a UCC event, and > > if it's the place for you, sign up: > > https://www.ucc.asn.au/member/2019/ Whoops, I thought you weren't a member, yet. Apparently emailing tech@ is a good idea for this. ----------IMAP---------- * OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 SASL-IR LOGIN-REFERRALS ID ENABLE IDLE LITERAL+ AUTH=PLAIN] Dovecot (Debian) ready. 1 LOGIN tec ********* 1 OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 SASL-IR LOGIN-REFERRALS ID ENABLE IDLE SORT SORT=DISPLAY THREAD=REFERENCES THREAD=REFS THREAD=ORDEREDSUBJECT MULTIAPPEND URL-PARTIAL CATENATE UNSELECT CHILDREN NAMESPACE UIDPLUS LIST-EXTENDED I18NLEVEL=1 CONDSTORE QRESYNC ESEARCH ESORT SEARCHRES WITHIN CONTEXT=SEARCH LIST-STATUS BINARY MOVE SNIPPET=FUZZY LITERAL+ NOTIFY COMPRESS=DEFLATE] Logged in 2 COMPRESS DEFLATE 2 OK Begin compression (0.001 + 0.000 secs). 3 ENABLE QRESYNC * ENABLED QRESYNC 3 OK Enabled (0.001 + 0.000 secs). 4 NAMESPACE * NAMESPACE (("" "/")) NIL NIL 4 OK Namespace completed (0.001 + 0.000 secs). 5 LIST "" "*" * LIST (\NoInferiors \Marked) "/" Sent * LIST (\NoInferiors) "/" Drafts * LIST (\NoInferiors) "/" approval * LIST (\NoInferiors) "/" spam * LIST (\NoInferiors \UnMarked) "/" Trash * LIST (\NoInferiors) "/" .procmail.log * LIST (\HasNoChildren) "/" INBOX 5 OK List completed (0.001 + 0.000 secs). ----------SMTP---------- 220 mooneye.ucc.gu.uwa.edu.au ESMTP EHLO tranquillity 250-mooneye.ucc.gu.uwa.edu.au 250-PIPELINING 250-SIZE 50720000 250-ETRN 250-AUTH LOGIN PLAIN 250-AUTH=LOGIN PLAIN 250-ENHANCEDSTATUSCODES 250-8BITMIME 250 DSN AUTH PLAIN dGVjAHRlYwBiYW5kd2Fnb244NTU= 535 5.7.8 Error: authentication failed: authentication failure SMTP Last Response Code: 535 SMTP Last Response: 5.7.8 Error: authentication failed: authentication failure mailsmtp Last Error Code: MAILSMTP_ERROR_AUTH_LOGIN mailsmtp Last Error Location: 10 mailsmtp Last Auth Type: 2 I hope this is enough for someone to work something out. I suppose there's gitlab? I take it that the general issue is that IMAP logins work fine to motsugo?; but SMTP AUTH (sending mail) to mooneye fails, with the same configured username:password? What exact time were these tests taken? or can you find the matching mooneye:/var/log/mail.log entries for the mooneye server side? I'm not finding it with the string "tranquility". Another good test tool is: https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/swaks https://www.jetmore.org/john/code/swaks/ > ----------IMAP---------- > * OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 SASL-IR LOGIN-REFERRALS ID ENABLE IDLE LITERAL+ AUTH=PLAIN] Dovecot (Debian) ready. > 1 LOGIN tec ********* > 1 OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 SASL-IR LOGIN-REFERRALS ID ENABLE IDLE SORT SORT=DISPLAY THREAD=REFERENCES THREAD=REFS THREAD=ORDEREDSUBJECT MULTIAPPEND URL-PARTIAL CATENATE UNSELECT CHILDREN NAMESPACE UIDPLUS LIST-EXTENDED I18NLEVEL=1 CONDSTORE QRESYNC ESEARCH ESORT SEARCHRES WITHIN CONTEXT=SEARCH LIST-STATUS BINARY MOVE SNIPPET=FUZZY LITERAL+ NOTIFY COMPRESS=DEFLATE] Logged in > 2 COMPRESS DEFLATE > 2 OK Begin compression (0.001 + 0.000 secs). > 3 ENABLE QRESYNC > * ENABLED QRESYNC > 3 OK Enabled (0.001 + 0.000 secs). > 4 NAMESPACE > * NAMESPACE (("" "/")) NIL NIL > 4 OK Namespace completed (0.001 + 0.000 secs). > 5 LIST "" "*" > * LIST (\NoInferiors \Marked) "/" Sent > * LIST (\NoInferiors) "/" Drafts > * LIST (\NoInferiors) "/" approval > * LIST (\NoInferiors) "/" spam > * LIST (\NoInferiors \UnMarked) "/" Trash > * LIST (\NoInferiors) "/" .procmail.log > * LIST (\HasNoChildren) "/" INBOX > 5 OK List completed (0.001 + 0.000 secs). > > > ----------SMTP---------- > 220 mooneye.ucc.gu.uwa.edu.au ESMTP > EHLO tranquillity > 250-mooneye.ucc.gu.uwa.edu.au > 250-PIPELINING > 250-SIZE 50720000 > 250-ETRN > 250-AUTH LOGIN PLAIN > 250-AUTH=LOGIN PLAIN > 250-ENHANCEDSTATUSCODES > 250-8BITMIME > 250 DSN > AUTH PLAIN dGVjAHRlYwBiYW5kd2Fnb244NTU= > 535 5.7.8 Error: authentication failed: authentication failure > > SMTP Last Response Code: 535 > > SMTP Last Response: 5.7.8 Error: authentication failed: authentication failure > > > mailsmtp Last Error Code: MAILSMTP_ERROR_AUTH_LOGIN > > mailsmtp Last Error Location: 10 > > mailsmtp Last Auth Type: 2 > > I hope this is enough for someone to work something out. > Thanks in advance, > Timothy.?
