Hi all,

If anyone is interested in playing around with a non linux system
I've setup an instance of MVS 3.8j running under the Hercules
System/370 emulator.

The emulator is running on a new VM that I've named macropoma.
MVS can be accessed by connecting a tn3270 client to macropoma on
port 3270. This can be achieved from motsugo by running the
command `c3270 macropoma:3270`.

I've added accounts for all UCC users, however your account will
need to be enabled and have a password set by a wheel member
before it can be used. There is also an operator account
documented in uccpass. If you want to login just send me a message
and I'll set a temporary password for you. Since MVS userids are
limited to 8 characters your userid will be your UCC login
truncated to 8 characters.

Please be aware that passwords are case insensitive, limited to
8 characters and
are NOT HASHED OR ENCRYPTED. As such the MVS system should not be
considered secure and is not exposed directly to the internet.

Software installed on the MVS instance includes:
KICKS (a CICS clone)
REXX interpreter
Compilers for: PL/I, COBOL, RPG, ALGOL, C (gcc), PASCAL, FORTAN

A wiki page for the system will be coming soon.

Regards,

Zack [CFE]
