Good Morning All,
Well, I think I can say that this year's sleepout was a resounding
success. We had 60 odd people attend and much fun was had by all
(except perhaps me ;P)
Ah, but I hear the question everyone wants the answer to - HOW MUCH?
Well, we raised over $1100 for the homeless. Not a bad effort, and about
$500 more sponsorship than last year.
Now this spectacular figure is due in large part to the overwhelming
generosity of certain people, and I thinks some thanks are in order. I
shall give the most obvious names, but these are far from the only people
who gave more than the required door fee (you know who you are. Feel that
warm glow).
Marcia Bauer - $130 in sponsorship
Say thanks to your parents for us :P
Nicole Lammers - $95 in sponsorship
Highest Number of actual sponsors. Also found $50 in the library and
graciously decided to pass on her good luck to someone less fortunate.
Tom Lynch - $67
Colm Kiely - $50 (and thirty-five cents *grin*)
Ain't family grand :)
Adrian Chadd, James Andrewartha - spontaneous $50 entry fees.
Well done, and thanks also to those who caved easily to raffle ticket
maniacs.
Last, but by no means least, I would like to thank Chris Coman for doing
stuff. Chris did almost all of the actual work involved in organising this
event, leaving me only a significant proportion of the worrying ;P
Cheers Chris.
(Oh, and Oliver did some stuff too ;P)
Oh, and in case anyone was wondering, the raffle prizes were as follows:
Most Sponsorship - Marcia Bauer.
UWA Sports Bag - generously donated by the Co-op Bookshop
1st Prize - Marcia Bauer (talk about stacking the odds :)
$30 Dick Smith voucher
2nd Prize - Rae Gunter
$30 78's voucher
3rd Prize - Nicole Lammers
$20 book voucher
4th Prize - Loren Dyer
$20 Valhalla voucher
Oh, and I should point out that our cause was also aided by Broadway
Pizza, who once again gave us a special deal on pizza, and Brumby's in
Dalkeith, who gave us a bulk dicount on muffins.
Apologies to those who wanted chocolate muffins - I was dissapointed
too. Then again, nobody ever said Chris was perfect *grin*
Anyway, I haven't slept in 30 hours and I think I'm starting to waffle...
See you all next year,
Chas.
